brake light

the brake light is on on my 83 . every once in awhile the pedal goes down a little farther than normal and the brake light comes on . stays on until the next time the pedal goes down farther than normal , then it goes out. new pads and rotors . brakes work " good " . never have worked "great" since i had the truck. i suspect the master cyl may have an internal seal going bad ? what do you guys think ?

Re: brake light

Yup, sounds like an internal seal in the master.

Re: brake light

Definately a master cylinder. Mine did the same thing. Only problem is my brake light never went out.

Front to back, my entire brake system is brand new. Still the light on the dash wouldn't go out.

I took out the bulb

You can adjust the tab that holds the plunger to make it not stay on. Just screw it up onto the bracket.

Sweet! Didn't know that! I'll give it a try tonight and let you know.
