65 gmc stepside questions
I have a 65 gmc step side. Few questions.
1. It has rear leaf springs, I thought it should have rear coils. 2. Planning on swapping a 73 chevy front cradle in for disk brakes and 5 bolt rims. Any advice on this? 3. Any way to docode the number on the little silver plate above the door post? ABW |

OK, titled 65 gmc, step side, 230, 3 speed. This truck has a 250 engine, was told the 230 went bad and was dealer replaced. I am the second owner, and I dont think the 1st owner would have modified the rear suspension.

Hey abwdvm, 1. In those years GMC trucks, leaf springs were standard, where in Chevrolet, coils were standard. 2. Not familiar with that swap, but it sounds like a lot of work. If it were my truck, I would be leaving it original, but that's just my opinion.

65 gmc
Thanks! I thought it looked stock. I am pleased with the 3.54 ratio back there. Only thing I dont like is the 6 bolt axels. Wonder if I can use my 5 bolt axels and drum from the 73?
