Fox shocks 2.0 with resivoir
Just wondering what some of you custom truck builders who deal with alot more of the suspension side of things think about those FOX Shock with remote gas resivoir.
Wanting to use these on my build instead of regualr shocks I seen these on a few rides already the AVS truck and that one from Choppin Block. |

Are you planning on significantly more travel than stock? If not, you're not buying any practicality... just a "look."

i've never need'd that much travel but have seen them used on several trucks at shows and what not. my opinion for the average air suspention its overkill

These shocks can be used for more than just looks. The shocks are rebuildable and can adjust the comp. and rebound in the shock to dial in the ride

These things are awesome... They smooth the ride incredibly and look bad ass. We have yet to try them out on the green truck, but the burgundy/orange truck rides great.

Fox makes those shocks in a 6 inch version so your not buying a shock that has more travel than the suspension. When you setup an air ride suspension it is hard to figure out what shocks will best fit your needs.

So instead of measuring and calculating, you suggest someone "just get a Fox remote reservoir shock" and all will be good?

Measuring the overall travel requirements based on suspension extension/compression & calculating the proper shock length for that given distance then researching shock p/n's from that information (that's how I do my stuff).

The Fox 2.0 shock's most redeeming value is the ability to change the rebound and compression damping for the suspension set up and shock placement. The external reservoir is overkill, sure, but it adds a certain look that is much more appealing than looking at normal shocks that most guys use such as Doetsch, Monroe, etc. As has been already brought to light, the Fox 2.0 starts at a 6-inch stroke and goes up from there so any argument about having a long-travel off road shock is simply frivolous. I have used them on many builds both lifted, lowered, and airbagged with great results. Set up can take a bit of effort to get the ride how you want it if you are not accustomed to the nomenclature of shock settings but is no major voodoo. I say get some and be happy.
