Operation Enduring Freedom Truck build

Well since I have spent the better part of a year in Afghanistan sucking sand and listening to incoming rockets I thought it only fitting to call the truck build OEF.

Here's the down and dirty while I'm over here my truck has been setting in a shop in Clarksville Tn getting a major build done to her.
The name of the shop is ICE (Innovative competition Engines) Performance.

Dwayne McCraley is the owner and I have known him for some years now and is a great guy with really great skills. So from here on out I'll start posting picture of the build.

Truck details It's a 79 C10 That had a small block with a Holley two barrel and a TH400 with 2:73 gears.

Whats going in it is a Big Block 396 with a roller cam and fuel injection from FAST EZ EFI for a trans it's a 700R4 and were keeping the rear end the same.

Colors going to be green the wife picked it out so I really can say what color green it is.

The interior will be gray vinyl with black and gray hounds tooth inserts on the bench seat and door panels, the door panels are rods door panels, the dash will stay stock except for the billet insert on the dash pad and gauge bezel as for gauges I'm going to go with dakota digital with the green digital numbers.
guys let me know what ya think and if you want some A1 work done give Dwayne a call.

Well lets start this off with one picture of me at work.

Thanks for your service. Stay safe over there, man.

Are they shaving the cab seam on the truck too? Take a look at Randy's "Chaser" build, and have them catch that if it isn't too late.

Thank you for your brave service to keep folks like us safe at home. I really appreciate it! The truck looks good, too! What style mirrors will you run, if any?

Re: Operation Enduring Freedom Truck build

Nice truck build you got going on there!

Get home safely and enjoy the truck!!!

BTW is your engine built to run and pull from very RPMs?
Reason for asking is you said you want to keep your 2.73 toghether with a 700R4.
I have the same rear and trans in mine and even though it's a 400 engine it barely makes it with that driveline.
It's the first thing I want to modify on my truck.

Keep us informed on the build

Re: Operation Enduring Freedom Truck build

I remember when I was in OEF in early 02, I couldn't wait to get home and rip into my 83. Then when I got home and seen the wife, ( now ex) had spent all the money, I wanted to treat her like a terrorist..
Stay safe bro

HOOOOAH.

My Silverado SS is running 3:73 gears withthe overdrive and it gets ok gas milage from the factory. If you want to maximize your drivetrain I would go with 3:42 gear or a 3:73 out back. That will maximize the low first gear in your transmission. It will also even out at a nice low rpm on the highway in overdrive. God Bless and stay safe over here. Yep I said it right. Im here too. Im a civilian now. I wore the uniform for 10.5 years active duty USAF in vehicle maintenance.

Re: Operation Enduring Freedom Truck build

jablack,

I know how you feel, My exwife emptied my saving of $36,000 and got knocked up while I was In Iraq in 2003. So I went back to Iraq 6 months later just to make up the money she stole from me.

Good times

Re: Operation Enduring Freedom Truck build

I tried to go back and make up the money but they sent me to Korea. She sent me my walking papers when I was there. I had a blast after that.
I don't get how we can be over there, and our "wives" can do what they do. You should be able to come home and shoot em..

Sounds like your going to have a real nice ride to come home to, nobody deserves it more than the men and woman who put themselves in harms way to keep the rest of us safe. Come home safe and soon, Thank you.
