Re: GEN III 5.3L Question

Can it be done yes, but if you have a 01 motor with the cable type throttle body, the easiest is to get a 99-02 harness and computer. After 02 there are quite a few changes in connectors and they went to drive by wire(DBW). In my sig there is a link to the LSx FAQ, lots of good reading.

Re: GEN III 5.3L Question

well i wouldnt be considering it but the guy is selling me alot of parts for a cheap price and its very tempting. i know dbw can be converted dbc, so thats not the issue, i am more concerned with the connectors and such like you stated...

Re: GEN III 5.3L Question

I'd say go for it, to me dbw would be easier than mods for a cable. and swap throttles and sensors

Re: GEN III 5.3L Question

Off the top of my head, O2s, Alternator, MAF connectors and then the TPS/IAC vs. DBW with the TAC. Also being it is a 07 it may use separate engine and trans computers with the 58x reluctor wheel on the crank. Even if you get it cheap, I would sell/trade it for a older harness.

^^^^^ What he said. The 2007 PCM wont have IAC drivers in it to work with DBC. Find a '99-'02 harness and a 411 PCM and save yourself ALOT of headaches.

Re: GEN III 5.3L Question

Yep don't do it, like they said the comp will not work with a cable TB, Cable throttle body's have iac valves to control idle, that newer computer does not have the hardware to control an iac valve
