Question column shifter cable linkage?

Has anyone seen a cable operated column shifter assembly? Basically, something that bolted under the hood and took the column shifter linkage and converted it into a stationary bracket with a cable on it?

I was thinking that would be an easy solution for swapping to a non-standard steering column and not have to muck with getting the shifter linkage to work.

Just trolling for ideas here...

I have seen this recently in a magazine. I cant remeber who makes it though. I'll look tonight to see if I can find it again. Pretty cool setup IMO.

...and installation write-up from http://www.rodandcustommagazine.com/techarticles/84858/

Looks like it might work for me, but I need to determine which diameter steering column I'm going to end up with (as the Ididit part fits around the column under the hood), and Ididit needs to get their web site working

Here's another shot of it. Makes more sense as to how it works.

Well, Ididit's web site has been MIA for a week or so. I found some of their dealers' prices which ranged from $90-$120... but I wasn't quite sure if that was because of pricing differences by dealer or because of different models of the part. Ididit does offer the kit to fit several different diameter steering columns.

XXL thats exactly what I need to free up some room for exhaust routing. I've been wondering how I was going to keep the pipe above the bottom of the frame with the shift linkage in the way. I was starting to lean toward a floor shift but that column/cable system give another option. Keep us posted I'de sure like to know how it works out for you. Thanks .... Stroker
