got some bad news for my truck today

Had the guy who was gonna do a little patch work on the back bottom of the cab come over. Showed him the firewall and he said I would be crazy to patch it instead of replacing the cab. Replacing the cab seems like its going to be a helluva a job. Any one tackled this task?

Realistically, its not all that bad if you have the time for it. Just lots and lots of bolts. Its far less technical then doing patch work. Especially on the firewall.

It's not that bad, really. Grab some masking tape and a marker and make a label for where the wires went.

And as far as the wiring goes, if you unhook and disconnect everything and transfer it over directly everything will fall right into place where it needs to go. Years ago I re-wired my old 74 c10 with a harness from an '82 bumper to bumper. It was tedious but it all fell right into place.

Re: got some bad news for my truck today

can save a lot of unexpected $$ rust repairs
just take lots of pics
maybe overkill but might wana to take one of each connection/plug moved
add a few more grounds while in there, extra options....
but your in the right place to ask any questions after

Re: got some bad news for my truck today

What about an all new wiring harness.. Lmc's says it doesn't fit the dual headlights and mine is an 84. So does anyone make one for the dual headlights? I will never be allowed to sale this truck so I guess what ever it takes I will do. The pictures seem like a great idea.... They have helped me rebuilt some vintage motorcycles here lately

Re: got some bad news for my truck today

It is rather easy once you remove the front end and the wires to the engine it is 4 bolts to remove the cab.
