Steering Box??

1975 C10. Not sure if this is the correct place to post this but here goes. I was driving my truck today and noticed it has quite a bit of play in the steering. It has a power steering box. The truck has been sitting awhile and i finally got the transmission leak fixed and carb tuned. I was driving a more modern car with tight steering so it was most noticable. Is there another box or swap i can do to get rid of the slop and improve handling? Thanks.

Re: Steering Box??

First make sure that the box you have isnt worn out. Alot of input shaft movement w/o alot of output shaft movement is a sign of a worn out box, they usually wear most where the steering is centered. If that checks out and all the other steering parts are OK you can change to a quick ratio steering box, itll give a faster steering response more like a modern car.
