BulletProof 6 speed auto w/NP205

Sounds tempting does it? Just pondering my options and was looking into a turbo 400 with the gear vendors OD. The GV replaces the output on the 205. The controller shifts it automatically between shifts 1, 1 over, 2, 2 over, 3, 3 over. You can disengage it with a foot switch (like the old floor mounted dimmers).

I like the idea and it would be a stout setup.

Aint cheap ($3K), but has alot of advantages.

Disavantage; No engagement in 2wd, but come on, who runs in 4wd at highways speeds?

Hmmm.....

Re: BulletProof 6 speed auto w/NP205

Meh, if you want a cheaper darn near bullet proof 6 speed auto go find yourself a 6L90 from a late model GM truck and not monkey with that aftermarket stuff. The 6L90’s aren’t quite an Allison but they are holding up a lot better than any 4L80E ever could. Ask any GM dealer how many warranty repairs they have done on 4L80E's vs. 6L90’s. 6L90 failures of any sort are very few and far between. If I had to have an auto, a 6L90 would be what I would go after but until both of my legs fall off I'll stick with manual transmissions.

You also have to think the 4l80s came out how many years before the 6L series so there obviously going to have more problems and with newer technology gm continues making better products and as far as autos and manuals i would like a fast shifting 4x4 6spd like a 4wd t56 or a lenco 6spd clutchless =-p

Personally, I'd never put an automatic in a truck.

Re: BulletProof 6 speed auto w/NP205

I am about to put the same in my suburban, but it is the older gear vendors.
I hope it will work out fine. I am going to have a manual switch to activate it, and a switch feeding it only in 2wd.
My transmission kit came out of an -86 crew cab diesel.

I will use the 6.2 diesel that came with it.
Here is a picture of it.
My Gear Vendors are a J type by the way.
