break problem

i just installed new break shoes springs ect. in the rear drums.now i cant install the drums,shoes are too pushed out,i loosened the adjust.cylinder all the way,and still having the problem.is there anything im missing?any tips?

Maybe open bleeder valves and compress upper ends of shoes until wheel cylinders depress fully & allow ends of shoes to move completely in?

thx sam i will try that,will i have to bleed my lines when im done?or just refill my master cyl.

You will for sure have to bleed your lines after. When you let out fluid it is replaced with air. No fluid, no hydrollic pressure allowing you to move the cylinder without resistance. Presto! Making installing new shoes a breeze! I almost always bleed the system when I repair shoes anyways for both easy install and good servicing!

thx rustbucket,is it a one man job or does it take two peeps.is there an easy tool for bleeding brakes?

make sure the shoes are pushed together at the wheel cyl. (cyl pins are pushed into the cyl all the way) you can do this with your hands.

Ideally 2 people is best, but there are 1 man hand pump bleeder tools.
