Gas Tank Strap Rivets

My tank and straps showed up today without the 6 rivets needed for the brackets.

I am guessing pop rivets are out of the question and steel is the way to go?
What size and material are you guys using and how are you installing them?

I don't want to run down to the hardware store and beat them flat with a hammer only to discover I need to do it a second time.

Is welding them on an option?

Re: Gas Tank Strap Rivets

I just used bolts and nylock nuts for them. I took them to the hardware store and found ones that fit snug in the holes. That was 10 years ago so I do not remember what size I bought.

THat is it. I used 7/16 stainless with the nylock as well. I think bolts they were 1" in length
