700r4

Ok guys just wanna know if you can help me out I have a 87 with 350 tbi and 700r4 trans I made my truck into a shortbed bout a drive line on CL drove it around for 2 years and would shake a lil found out the drive line was bent so recently bought another drive line and now drives like a new truck lol so I put in a new seal in and I notice im leaking transmission fluid when ever the truck sits it just drips out slow so today the guy from AutoZone told me to try this

Where does that bushing even go over the yoke ? Is it hard to install will this stop it from leaking..

Re: 700r4

Yes...... That bushing will likely solve the slop in the yoke which likely beat the seal out, Go back to your buddy at Autozone and ask him if he has the special puller to remove the old one and the installer for the new one in their rent-a-tool program......

Re: 700r4

I had to google a picture of a 700r4, but it looks like the tail part of the case might come off...I put a new bushing in a T5, with the tail housing off the trans, I was able to use my harbor freight seal driver kit to knock the old bushing out, and install the new one...it was a little undersize, so I honed it with a brake cylinder hone.

Re: 700r4

The stub of the driveshaft that you stick in through the rear seal rides inside the bushing.

Re: 700r4

Here you go big chief....
I found a picture of this 700r4 for sale on ebay with new busing and rear seal...you can see the bushing up in there just behind the seal.
When I was googling i saw a kit with the bushing, rear seal, and a big oring for the tailshaft, so I know you aren't the first one this has happened to...It's just four bolts, so I think removing the thing is the way to go...

Re: 700r4

Your speedometer driven gear is broken for sure (looks like some teeth are even beat up) and it looks like you're missing the rubber O-ring from the gear adapter housing. The transmission case where that goes in looks a little rough, but nothing too far from ordinary. When the transmission is full there's just a little tiny bit of fluid in that back part of the trans anyway, so the top edge where yours looks rough should be totally fine.
