Lets see your motors, Stock to wild

Since we can put just about anything under the hood, seems these trucks have the largest variations of power plants.

Start it off with the ubiquitous Small Block.

Aftermarket block and heads, all Iron, from the boys up at DART. 427 cubic inches of full roller, parts breaking, shenanigan inducing, race gas burning terror.

Pretty boring really with just a single Holley and no power adders. However I moved the battery under the bed and built a giant top tank aluminum radiator that cleaned up the area.

So lets see yours.

Here's my 290 horse 350 ft/lbs torque GM crate motor. Nothing too fancy, just some finned acessorries and gold paint

Simply stock, original 283, intake, Rochester 2bbl, valve covers & the old oil bath air cleaner. Some might consider it boring but, it works for me!

I'm not knocking the chrome goodies but I have to agree, I had all the chrome stuff in my '72 GMC engine bay many years ago but in a northern climate, it did not hold up, and looked like crap after a couple of winters. So I decided to keep it stock on my '62 build, less polishing to worry about.

Wow! very nice detail on the 283! I've been holding off on adding those 283 valve cover decals in hopes of custom making some "Powered by B/A Velvet 98 gasoline" decals to go with my B/A shop truck theme, but when I see the proper 283 decals like yours it makes me reconsider.

Re: Lets see your motors, Stock to wild

I like the updated engines sitting in the engine bays, but those original engines are freakin' SWEET when all painted up nice and pretty. Nothing better, in my opinion.
That said, I have a 454 on a stand in the garage waiting to go in to my 66 C20.

The big block in my blue trk and the stock engine in my green truck. I have to get a better picture of the BB. The wilwood master is not in there. Couldn't get it to work.

Here's mine, currently a work in progress. 350, 9.6-1, modded Vortec heads, hydraulic roller (227/230 @ .050, .510/.525 lift on a 112 lobe center), Air Gap intake, Holley 750 vacuum secondary, 1992 serpentine set-up. Still need to run the fuel and water lines, and hook up the electrical.
