parking brake shoes
time to rebuild my park-brake shoes,(2000 1500z-71) it does not work at all. I under stand how to replace them, but was wondering do they mess up the inside of the rotors? you can put the p-brake on and drive forward and just feel a little drag. the cable has been adj all the way. should i just rebuild everything--new rotors and pads? thanks in adv.

Re: parking brake shoes
There were actually two types available when I went to do this on my 04. Mine had the one piece shoes and like yours were completely shot. I replaced them and they work like new.

If yours does turn out to have the one piece style it looks like the axle would have to come out to replace hem but I was able to get them off without that. Let us know how ours turns out. -Richard

Re: parking brake shoes
I did my 2003 a few years ago and had trouble getting the rotors off, I think the e brake pads were binding causing the rotors to get stuck. I used a puller to get the rotors off. I replaced the dust shields at the same time. the reason I think the pads binded was the little screw that holds one side must have been long gone.
