73-87 DBW pedal bracket?
What is everyone doing to mount the DBW pedal in there 73-87 trucks?
I've seen Hart Rods killer throttle brackets for the 76-72 trucks and when I contacted him, he unfortunately doesn't make them for our trucks.

Re: 73-87 DBW pedal bracket?
Depending on what year you have, I replaced my 2011 truck pedal for a Corvette pedal and used Hart Rod's plate and it works perfect! All I had to do was swap two pins in the plug for the pedal.

Re: 73-87 DBW pedal bracket?
Are the mounting locations different for each pedal?
Sounds like I'll be getting a pedal from a 03-06 truck (Pedal is still being shipped with the motor so I can't be sure until I get it). would love to get one of Hart Rod's adapters if it will work. I don't mind drilling if I need to, but as far as cutting or bending the bracket, I'm worried I won't be able to get it right.

Re: 73-87 DBW pedal bracket?
The '04 DBW truck pedal I used had 2 bolt holes that lined up with the original pedal holes. Haven't had any issues using just two bolts.

Re: 73-87 DBW pedal bracket?
There's a few people using the pedal from a late 90's 6.5 diesel on their Gen III setups. You have to swap a couple of wires in the harness but the pedal itself bolts right up in the 73-87(91) trucks. Here's a pretty good write up on it:

Re: 73-87 DBW pedal bracket?
I used a '95 6.5 diesel pedal. bolted right in. had to repin the connector on a couple of wires IIRC. Looks completely stock

Re: 73-87 DBW pedal bracket?
This is the pedal that came with my swap, what would be needed to bolt it up to my 87 Burb? Do I need to bend the pedal bracket or mod one of Hart Rod's brackets?
Thanks again

What about GEN IV pedals that don't make use of a TAC module?

Re: 73-87 DBW pedal bracket?
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...3&page=1306-07 is a plastic pedal. post 302 shows what I did. Got the idea from glock35. Used the left hand original hole in the bottom pedal hole then drilled a new hole for top pedal hole.

Re: 73-87 DBW pedal bracket?
About to buy the 98 6.5 diesel pedal, if I re-wire the connector like the above link says, this should work with a 2004 gen3 PCM and TAC module right?

Re: 73-87 DBW pedal bracket?
Ok bought a new pedal from Rock Auto, instead of taking a chance in screwing up my existing harness, I'm going to see of I can find another pedal harness to buy and modify, just in case something gets messed up.

Re: 73-87 DBW pedal bracket?
Bringing this post back from the dead.
I never did try to re-work my pedal/harness wiring. I was too afraid of screwing something up. Has anyone been able to use one of Hart Rod's 67-72 brackets for a 73-87 truck with a little work? I have my pedal working in my truck now, but it sits way too high up, and is un-comfortable to drive for a long time.

Re: 73-87 DBW pedal bracket?
As I understand it some of the the 72's use the later bolt pattern of the 73-87. The rework is to just drill another hole in the bracket. I think the current ones have both hole sets.

I am worried that welding my pedal will get the pedal too hot and mess up the electronics in the pedal. Do I not need to worry about that? If not I have a friend who can weld for me and I may end up doing what you did.

Re: 73-87 DBW pedal bracket?
Thank you! I just talked to my friend with the welder and we are going to do this next weekend just like you did. I will post back when I'm done.

The problem I keep running into, is whenever I find instructions on re-wiring the connector for the pedal, I keep finding other instructions that say to do it differently. I saw a video on youtube where someone only had to swap one wire and he claims his works with no problems. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WX1X...index=2&t=102s Then I find other instructions that say two wires need to be changed. (second post from the bottom) https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...questions.html Then I have read about doing it and swapping 3 wires. 4th post from the top https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...91-chevys.html I am not sure which I should trust.

Re: 73-87 DBW pedal bracket?
I did. I removed the wire from pin "E" and moved it to pin "A".
I also had to cut a small notch in the connector to make it plug in. The pedal now is perfect and I have been using it for a couple months now with no issues.
