Wiper transmission arm question

Is there a trick to getting this clip to secure itself to the post that holds both wiper transmission arms? I've spent a lot of time on what is probably a 20 second job.

Insert the clip into the pin from the top. Should be real easy. Perhaps the arms aren't assembled right? Anyway, it should look like this.

Incidentally Tim, if you haven't got one of these or similar, this tool is the stuff for pulling & attaching wiper arms. It will make your life easier and is damage prevention. https://store.snapon.com/Window-and-...l-P636287.aspx

The clip in your pic is missing the retainer turn up...it may fit on but it will fall off when you start using it.

The bottom photo clip shows the little bend on the end that retains the clip.
