Champion radiator ?
Can I run a stock shroud with the Champion radiator in my 64 C20 or do I need to run a electric one?

Re: Champion radiator ?
Shroud or fan?.....if your gonna use a electric fan I'd just use champs.....you can get a pretty good deal on champs radiators with the fan and shroud already setup.....I'm fixing to get a combo here shortly myself...

Re: Champion radiator ?
I put a 3 row champion radiator/shroud/fan combo in my K20 about 6 months ago with a 185 degree fan switch in the water neck.
Temp hasn't gotten above the middle of the gauge even in the 95 degree 95% humidity we've had in Oklahoma lately. But with the 4 speed and 4.56 gears I cant say I spend much time at highway speeds. |

Re: Champion radiator ?
http://www.speedcooling.com/1963_196..._Radiator.html Check these out before a champion radiator. Champions are pretty good. I do have one in my bb truck and with just a fan it cools ok. It is also a 4 row not a 3. The 3 was way to small for the BB,. This is one with there dual fan and shroud set up. http://www.speedcooling.com/1963-196...um-Shroud.html

Re: Champion radiator ?
Champion has a few radiator options for our trucks. If you pick one that is sized like factory, you should no problem using your factory cooling equipment, if desired.
The Champion EC284 (2 core, economy) is identical in size to the factory radiator in my 66 K20 with 292, with exception of being 1" taller. The total core thickness of the Champion is the same as the factory 3 core.

Re: Champion radiator ?
I know electric fans free up horsepower and all that, but I have no problems with an 18" six bladed clutch fan with a Hayden heavy duty clutch and a radiator from speedcooling.com I still use my o.e.m shroud too

Re: Champion radiator ?
Installed a Champion 2 core aluminum radiator with a factory fan shroud in my Suburban. Running a 90s tbi 350 with a clutch fan, runs great with the ac on and never gets warmer than the thermostat 195 degree

Re: Champion radiator ?
Thanks for the input guys, that's exactly what I was looking for. I ordered the Champion 2 row with 1" rows, it showed up on Friday. After looking at it, I think everything is going to work out as I had hoped. I plan on running the short water pump on my 350 with a fan and clutch from a 66 Impala I parted out a while back.
