Hood latch

Was going to paint this latch, or order a new one as i need a spring for it…but looking at ebay or classic, the catch is different, mine fits in between 2 tabs on hood, , its different that any pic i can find, help if you know whoch spring. Would need, or even the whole latch,,for my 51 chevy…

After thinking, it looks possible that someone in history squeezed this latch together to fit in between my two tabs, and i might could use the wider one on the outside of my tabs, anyone have a latch better than mine? I still cant figure why mine is different

Re: Hood latch

Mine is installed just like this one. You can see the flat part of the spring if you look closely.

No I don't. I used the kit you have in your first post to attach my stock latch.

It looks like that new latch has angled tabs. I wonder if you're supposed to flatten the tabs on he hood and bolt the new latch to it? Seems like a bad idea if so.
