4L80E for an LS Swap.
Any certain years to look for? I’ve got an all aluminum LS6 I’m thinking needs to go in the C10. She’s a little beefed up with 10:1 pistons and a stroker crank so I figured the 80 would be better than the 60.

Re: 4L80E for an LS Swap.
You need one for 99 & later LS engine
They came behind the LQ4 6.0 truck engines and in the Corvette

Re: 4L80E for an LS Swap.
Great thanks! I have seen the case differences between early and late models but wasn’t sure about the rest of the transmission. I just want whatever is the easiest for the swap.

Re: 4L80E for an LS Swap.
I have a 1997 4L80E for my LS swap on my Chevelle, GM makes a dust cover for the earlier 4L80E's to bolt up to an LS.

The other gotcha I've heard is that you can't use all the bolt holes in the smallblock bellhousing when you mate it to the LS.

As for the torque converter/flexplate issue, there are aftermarket flexplates that use the 6-bolt 11.5" bolt circle |

Re: 4L80E for an LS Swap.
Was this the reason for the 99 and later?

Re: 4L80E for an LS Swap.
Two of them
There are reliability modifications on newer transmissions similar to getting a late 80's early 90's 700R4 4L60 rather than a 1982-86 unit Planetary lube circuits on the earlier transmissions have a rep for starving and burning up the planetary gearsets. Electrical will differ somewhat on the older units. You can get proper pigtails to mate with your PCM. The newer transmissions from the T800 trucks and LS engine vans should be easier to find than units from the T400 chassis. You can mix and match but I'd rather get the engine and transmission out of the same generation rig if possible. It avoids a bunch of specialized parts chasing.

Re: 4L80E for an LS Swap.
I’ll look for an early 2000’s model. I don’t have any of the wiring or computer yet. Just the engine. It basically a long block. There’s no intake or throttle body on it yet.
