Power steering leak
I’m getting a power steering leak on the high-pressure hose where the AN the adapter fitting screws into the steering box. It only leaks if you turn the steering all the way to the stops. It’s 93 Silverado with an L86/8L90 swap, Holley mid mount accessory drive setup, has the factory steering box with Russel AN o-ring adapter fittings. I’ve tried 3. None have leaked while driving with normal steering, but if you take it to the stop for more than a few seconds, it leaks profusely. I’m not sure what’s going on. I'm going to try to go to NAPA this morning and see if they have any solutions. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
PS. I know this is not a squarebody, but the engineering is the same and you guys are more responsive than the OBS page,

Re: Power steering leak
I used this one - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08SR39Q7C/
I thought I had to where it wouldn't leak, after repeated tightening, now almost a year later I saw a drop on the crossmember. If you look at the only bad review for that item, it's about leaking. I was going to try to get a different hose made that doesn't use an adapter. I think I may just be crushing the o-ring while trying to get the inverted flare to seal... |

Re: Power steering leak
It's hard to tell from the pictures, but it looks like the o-ring won't seal on the adapter. On the original line the o-ring is compressed by the hard line which doesn't move, but the adapter doesn't have a line so the fitting twists on the o-ring distorting it. Maybe try Teflon tape?

Re: Power steering leak
The oring on the original is smaller than the 2 adapters isnt it?.. I'm thinking it may be a seating issue in the steering box...it holds until the pressure gets high as in full lock steering..
Kinda go along with what Sean says.. when you tighten those adapter fittings, its twisting the oring, where the factory fitting just puts pressure on the oring
