I built my own but I mounted the relays next to the battery.

Re: Question about American AutoWire Headlight Relay Kit

If you are still using the factory battery meter connecting the power source of the headlight to the battery or fuse link block will trick the meter into a charging display. The source of power for the lights needs to be on the other end of the shunt wire. Look at your meter with headlights on and alternator not turning. You should display a discharge. If you have connected to the battery side of the shunt, you will show a charging state rendering the meter worthless when headlights are on.

I'm getting ready to do the install and I have the Amercan Autowire Voltmeter # 51087 on the truck already. https://americanautowire.com/product...1&_ss=e&_v=1.0

Re: Question about American AutoWire Headlight Relay Kit

I installed self-resetting breakers after reading a few threads on this site about headlight kits…….they also went on the inner fender ;-)

Re: Question about American AutoWire Headlight Relay Kit

I have mine on the driver side fender.
The wires from the dimmer switch-to-headlights pass by, under the lip of the fender.
All connections are made with male/female connectors that match up so that the relays can be disconnected and the original wires can be plugged back into each other as they were originally.
Other than the relay pigtails, the only length of wire added was the 12V source.

Re: Question about American AutoWire Headlight Relay Kit

71 C 50 292 4sp vacuum operated 2sp rear axle. Userd the LMC headlight relay kit . Long stretch from headlight to headlight, didn't have enough length to mount relay on inner fenders so I had to put them forward of the radiator support and behind the grill , can't see them at all unless you are looking for them. Huge improvement for all the lights . Wasn't sure would fit C 50. Good luck on all your projects.
