Re: 1962 gmc rear gas tank options???
I used a 64 Mustang tank. I had to make a mounting bracket because it is narrower than the frame rails but it tucks up nice. The kits that I looked at hung below the bumper and I didn't like that look.

I got one from Boyd’s and it’s awesome. I ran a plastic fuel cell for years and it was horrible.

Re: 1962 gmc rear gas tank options???
I did the '94 S10 Blazer tank also. It fit between the frame rails, it's 20 gallons and didn't hang as low as some of the others like the standard issue K5 Blazer tanks. It's also FI ready if you choose to go that route...

Re: 1962 gmc rear gas tank options???
I did a newer suburban 25 gal. in my 62 Suburban. Changed the spout for the side fill and made a cross suport to hold the "straps" other than that fit great.

Re: 1962 gmc rear gas tank options???
More than anything else, I didn't want my rear tank to be hanging below the bumper. I asked this site for help, and the members came through. Here's the thread. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=621177

Re: 1962 gmc rear gas tank options???
The tank hanging low was the reason I went the direction I took. I did not want to see the tank from the rear of the truck.

Tanks Inc USPT-GH 15 gal tank. It has two options for fill location. It doesn't hang low and you can buy it with built in fuel pump for EFI.

Re: 1962 gmc rear gas tank options???
Unfortunately, I don't have any detailed pics of my setup but it's very similar to SirJim's '62 Suburban. The S10 Blazer tank doesn't hang quite as low though and my straps are hung front to rear.

Re: 1962 gmc rear gas tank options???
gm sir, its made from 1 x 2 x .125 tube, I spaced it down 1" which puts the fill neck right at the top of the wood for the bed, I bought a lil door kit from tanks inc, the tank is a mustang tank...I can get the the bolts for the bed cross supports from under the frame with a swivel socket.
