Help finding clutch linkage
I have been struggling to find a replacement clutch link that matches what is on my 67' K20. I ordered one off of LMC but it is just a round rod with a 90 bend at the end so that will be way off alignment. Any idea where to find it or if it is not the original piece, what vehicle is it from?
At this point I have two options. 1. Take the one off the truck and weld up the groove and file it back to size. 2. Bend the rod from LMC and hope to get an angle and end length that works. |

Re: Help finding clutch linkage
I'm not sure if two styles of rods were used on these trucks.
My 72 has a rod identical to yours, partially flat, including the worn/grooved ends. However, when I search on ebay I see multiple listings for used clutch pedal assemblies and rods that are round stock only. Are you concerned with authenticity or functionality (or both)? If function is solely your objective, then just bend the new one to match the old one. I don't think it will matter if you are a few mm off. |

Re: Help finding clutch linkage
Here's the only place I've seen that sells a reproduction of the "dog leg" style bent clutch pushrod. It's out of stock though, unfortunately.

There were two styles of pedal to Z bar rods in this series of truck.
I too am looking for this style of clutch rod for my 1970 K20. They seem to be few and far between. If that were mine, I would have zero qualms welding up that groove, then cleaning it up and running it. It would last another 58 years if lubed.

Re: Help finding clutch linkage
I’m just concerned with functionality in which way is easiest. The remainder of the clutch linkage is pretty butchered and I’m trying to fix it and get rid of the extreme excess slop.

Otherwise I might be trying to weld to fill the groove. |

Weld up that groove and reshape it with a file and grinding wheel.. A Dremel Tool works very well for this. If the holes are elongated, weld up the hole and redrill... Sometimes the "Z bar" will wear a circular groove in the frame bracket.. Remove the bracket and weld a bead in the groove and metal finish the weld.. Reattach the bracket using grade 8 bolts. Lubricate all pivot points with wheel bearing grease. Over the years, I've repaired numerous clutch linkage pieces using this method. |

Re: Help finding clutch linkage
This is where I bought my replacement parts and fit perfectly. FYI I bought the whole enchilada, so everything was new and tight.

Re: Help finding clutch linkage
I have a rod at home, let me take a look at it and see what type it is. I think it came off my truck when I switched to an automatic, so a '70 with a 250/3OTT I will report back.
