why would i need the OÂ² simulators? can't the OÂ² sensor input just be programmed out of the PCM when it's updated>?

Exactly, that's all I was trying to clarify. The front O2 sensors are needed to monitor the A/F ratio. The rears are not needed as they are just for emissions. When you remove the cats you will need to delete the rear O2s from the PCM and your done - end of story.
