Nice truck. I ran one of those seats for years, they make them completely different trucks and comfortable to drive.

Had to post my favorite picture of the '68......none of the modern junk in the background of this one.

Sweet picture! What gear do you have in the rear? What kind of mileage are you getting?

Re: my daily driven '68 LWB 5.3/4l60e
Well, I ran 3.73 gears up until 3 weeks ago. Now I've got a '70 rear end with 3.08s. Something in between would be perfect. I get 16 mpg driving 65 mph and under and drops like a rock after 70. Ive never gotten less than 13 mpg. The 3.08 gears are just too high to drive on the interstate at 70 mph unless its a fairly flat grade. I really liked my 3.73s better, but the '70 rear end was the right width to match the front disc brakes and easily keep everything 6 lug (I have 6 lug rotors up front).

Re: my daily driven '68 LWB 5.3/4l60e
I am wondering how and what you used to put a connection in the bottom of the gas tank, and does it leak? I'm thinking of doing this swap and would like to keep the stock tank as well. By the way I cant see your pics any more.
maybe something wrong on my end though. ![]() |

Re: my daily driven '68 LWB 5.3/4l60e
I used a bulkhead fitting and o-rings. Very similar to this one.....
![]() Be sure to drill a nice clean hole and use the proper o-rings. I had trouble out of mine after a year because the o-rings I used were not supposed to be used with fuel. After using the right o-rings I've had no problems. Its been two years since I made the repair. If it happens again I'm going to epoxy the bulkhead fitting to the tank. I used the factory fuel supply line on the top of the tank as a return line. Last edited by speed-racer; 04-11-2010 at 12:49 AM. |

Re: my daily driven '68 LWB 5.3/4l60e
Your truck is sweet, I'm digging your style as well. Since you did this swap, changing a gear set should be no problem for you. Other than that, I wouldn't change a thing on your truck. I like the stance, wheels and everything. Though I'm partial to the stock style black vinyl seats. My K20 isn't much more optioned than yours. I for one prefer it that way.

Re: my daily driven '68 LWB 5.3/4l60e
The seat in my 67 is from a 72 Cheyenne Super, and it is really springy, which helps with the rough ride. My 72 has a seat out of an early 90s 1500 w/t, and it works out pretty well. I dig what you're saying though.
