When I changed mine (IIRC), I just unbolted the motor mounts, used a floor jack to raise the engine up a couple of inches and then slid a 2x4 block in between the mounts and the motor. Worked well - just another way of doing it I guess.

Did you have to mess with the rad hoses? I just changed my coolant and don't really feel like changin it again.

I don't think that I did (it was about 3 years ago). I didn't have a ton of room to work with, but enough to wiggle the pan off.

I had a friend jack up both the oil pan and transmission pan at the same time (with 2x4s between jack and pans) then slide pieces of 2x4 in motor mount spot . He had to loosen tranny mount bolts and of course motor mounts. Hoses won't be disturbed with the 2-3' inches of lift.
