Re: front coil help

Get a coil spring compressor from your local auto parts store.
They should rent, sell, or loan them.

Re: front coil help

i remember having a similar problem..
i used a chain. i hookd it to the jack and then up to the frame and back again to the jack. so as i jacked up the lower control arm, the chain held the rest of the truck from raising up and it held itself inplace and therefore compressing the coil. also put a strap on that coil, cuz that thing can fly outta there and a strap will at least limit to where it flys.

be very careful where u hook up the chain on the truck and make sure u dont pinch any brake lines...

Re: front coil help

If you have a front sway bar, remove it so you can drop the LCA even more, might make the difference for getting the coil in/out. Had to do that on my 77 when I cut my coils.

Re: front coil help

The way I have done it in the passed with my 1 ton front coils is as Datguysal stated.
Put the uncompressed coil in the upper pocket and use a hydraulic floor jack to lift the lower control arm into place. I have done this on two different vehicles, one being my 82 when I rebuilt the whole front end.
