Just curious; is your tach nice and smooth or does it jump around? I had a few issues with mine (got it all worked out) just would like to know if any others had any issues.

To be honest I have not run the engine much due to not having the radiator installed, but what time I have run it the tach has been pretty smooth.

Hey Rex, you can use mine for a while if you need.I did a long test run last night with my new radiator hooked up. Amazing how good the test run went once I got rid of all the old gas.


Do you have a plan for your tranny cooling lines? Are you using the OEM quick connect style?

Thanks for the offer Mike but the 10 hr round trip might be a little counter productive.

On the tranny I am leaning toward the AN fittings from Sweet Performance and then using braided lines. That is the plan anyway. But, seeing as I spent this evening completely rewiring my dash so I could move my PCM out of the cab to see if it would reach my core support, my plans change alot.

Come on now, you're killing me. I have been planning all along to mount my PCM inside the cab. What's the deal? Does it muck up your a/c-heater install?
My wiring is no where near complete so I have flexibility. I just thought it would help clean up the engine bay if it's in the cab.

LOL, I know, I keep changing my mind but the PCM is just so tight between the fuse box and brake booster brace. It can fit there if it has too but it is like stuffing a size 12 foot into a number 10 shoe. I am wanting to see just where it could fit on the core support if I built a nice box for it and dressed it up some.

I would be glad to show some pics but like I said now my wiring is torn apart again.lol

Didn't like the PCM outside either so I tried something different back inside the cab.

I modified the brake booster bracket so the wires for the PCM would reach father.





Then I bent some metal for a bracket to hold the PCM.



and attached the bracket.



Then mounted the PCM

Need an opinion...

My tranny was hitting the bottom of my cab, so I lowered the rear end of the tranny to allow some room. That of course tilted the motor toward the firewall. Do you think it tilts too far?

The only option I would have is to raise the tranny back up and put 1/4spacers under the cab mounts.

Not sure about the spacers? Any chance you could shoot some pictures of the bottom side where the interference is? I have had this fear since I have a low hump in my "new" cab. If you use spacers, you'll have to raise all of the other parts too right? fenders, bed?

Your motor looks great! where did you score the headers? maybe I missed it?

Yes, I would have to use spacer all the way around, just not wanting to go that direction, but I dont want the motor to "tilted" to far back either. Thats why I was asking opinions, to see if looks bad or if it was just me being over sensitive.lol

No you didn't miss the headers I just have been lazy about posting. I got them from Shon, they are the Doug Thorley's

Yes, I could. I would rather eat dirt that move those adapter plates again though.

Actually, I don't think moving forward will help the shallowness between the cab and tranny. But that is a good idea though... I am gonna double check and make sure.

It does not look that bad to me but I would want to put and angle finder on your drive shaft to see where the u joints are. Could cause a vibration if the trans is to low.

Based on the other LS builds I've seen, tilting it back several degrees seems to be the norm. In fact, yours seems to have less tilt than most.

can you just add the high hump ? or is yours a high hump, that would seem like the easiest solution, you can usually pick one up for 50-60

Your right about the drive shaft, but my rearend in only tacked in place so I could move it if necessary.

As I lay on my back, looking up at that tranny last night I thought man a high hump cover would take care of all of this.

The main thing is that I already have my carpet but I guess...

Those headers are awesome man! I'm sure you will figure out the clearence issue. I would like to take some measurements on mine before I mount the cab on the chassis.
