65Robb-Congratulationson on finding a Complete unit with the shifter and rods; That’s the tough part.

Dazzoman- Look at the article I posted up from Classic Trucks on how to proceed. (it’s hard on the eyes I know, but I haven’t been able to scan proper copies)
That was for a V8 but I think it would work for your 292 application. It’s what I read and followed to put the MY6 behind my stock GMC V6. My truck used the SM420. I had to use my stock bell housing because it’s GMC specific.
I also had a new driveshaft made and the transmission cross member I fabricated up. I have the X frame so yours should be easier.
