Is the crate 260hp enough ?

I have read and read but..... who has the 260hp in a 4x4 blazer. All stock. Plan on keeping manifolds insted of headers.
opinions on a daily driver crate 350, looking at the 260hp. But..... is it enough? I don't need to race people I just want reliability and power to go the speed limit.
330hp is nice but don't want to go electric fuel pump.
Thank you in advance.

I have one in my Blazer but I pulled the heads & replaced them with some rebuilt vortec heads & replaced the cam with the Comp Cams XE268H. I did this when the engine was new so I have no idea how it ran stock but it runs awesome set up like I have it.

I'm sure the 260 horse motor has more power than any stock motor that ever came in a first gen blazer. They rated hp differently back then. Plus everything I've read recently about those motors is that they respond well to mods and are very durable. I just read an article not too long ago and I think they put a turbo charger one with low boost and it survived a bunch of dyno runs unscathed.

Mine has a week original 350. I'm thinking anything would be better. Is the l31 vortex motor a simple drop in? I need a new intake, anything else?
Thanks!!

The L31 does not have fuel pump mounted on block so you would need electric fuel pump. also has one piece rear main oil seal so you would have to replace flywheel.

Re: Is the crate 260hp enough ?

The 5.3 swaps that everyone is doing are only rated at just 300HP, and thats more than enough power. I guess it all depends on what you plan on doing with the truck. If you put an overdrive transmission behind that 260HP engine and 4.10 gears you'll be more than happy, IMHO.

Its plenty of power. I put it in mine and love it... I have a 4" lift and run 35s. I have headers on mine. If I had it to do over I would put the same motor in it.

Re: Is the crate 260hp enough ?

Just found this, looks like the bet for my needs.
Karlperformanceparts.com part number 10067353K3
Complete, any thoughts. I'm no mechanic so I'm trying to keep it simple.
