Correcting Chevy Lean on my 72

Hey guys one of the issues Ive had putting the truck back together is the infamous chevy lean. I sit one inch higher on the passenger rear but the front is level. Can I just install a 1" lowering block on the passenger rear between the axle and trailering arm?

Sounds like too many launches at the local drag strip tweaked the chassis or frame.

Do I HAVE to go to a frame shop? That just sounds expensive...

Are your springs in good shape? I would rule everything else out first. Sometimes one spring might be weaker than the other.

Subscribed for more info on this. I found on mine to measure the spring under load to the other rear spring. Mine was 3/4 shorter compressed. Tried new springs with same results. Added 1 inch steel block on top of spring and was perfect also no more rear wheel hop on hard launch.

its a coil spring setup so I'm not sure this would apply?

If you put a spacer on top of the spring that would have raised the truck? so you raised the driver's side to match the passenger?

I guess its the same thing, Im just lowering the passenger to match the driver instead. Im going to lowes for some large washers later to accomplish this as the 1" lowering block I bought yesterday wasn't long enough to go across both legs of the u bolt.

Re: Correcting Chevy Lean on my 72

I'm told it's not uncommon for these trucks to sit slightly uneven left to right. It was the case with mine after I installed new (ECE) coils. A 1/2 block under one of the rear coils corrected it for me.

Re: Correcting Chevy Lean on my 72

My 2 cents.....

I was distraught after putting in all new ECE suspension and found my truck leaning pretty hard. I lowered it 6" so it was even more noticeable than before.

My cousin is a body guy, and he was able to find the spot on the frame that was tweaking the truck. We jacked it up, and put a jackstand in that spot and let it sit overnight. It went from an inch and a half off to less than a quarter inch.
