Re: Smog states
Like Warren said, Arizona requires all trucks 1967 and later in Maricopa and Pima counties to be tested. Outside of the PHX and Tucson metropolitan areas, not required.
BTW, Maricopa's is a lot more stringent. One way around the testing is to get Year Of Manufacture plates AND collector car insurance and you're exempt. I have a '69 - '72 Lemon Yellow AZ plate on my '71 Jimmy. No more ADEQ tests. Still have commercial plates on my '68 C/10 Stepside, and that rig has to pass emissions every October. With a 292 L6, it's easier to pass than the V8s. And if it flunks, we jet down the Edelbrock 1404, adjust the lean mixture and run thru again. Once I get renewed, we put the high performance jets and metering rods back in. But last year, I think they just passed me to be cool. It was Friday, almost 6 O'clock, and they liked my classic truck. Checking my rear view mirror, I didn't see the guy put the probes in my tailpipes. I only idled thru it, didn't have to spin the treadmill roller, and it read 0 hydrocarbons. Fun fact: The Fremont Plant where GM built 2 of my trucks, in Bay Area California, is now the Tesla assembly facility.

Re: Smog states
Central Ohio has no emissions test. Good thing because i might have only 1 that would pass.

Re: Smog states
ID doesn't have smog tests as of July. However, I was sent a smog test for my truck at the beginning of June. Knowing they were going to stop testing, I decided to ignore the notice. I guess I'll find out what happens the next time I register the truck
