Re: AC/fan switch

Here is the pic of the plug. You can see the box in the background.

It's all starting to come together!!

What about the green wire, could I potentially plug that in to the yellow wire attached to the piggy back in my previous pics?

One more thing, I saw a plug just hanging there and this box attached to the firewall that looks like it belongs there. What is that and does that plug belong on it?
Yes, it seems to be coming together for you. I don't know about the wire not staying on the stud, others may chime in with what to do. I don't know about exactly what to do with the green cig lighter light wire, but you probably want it on a switched circuit such as radio or IGN UNFUSED or PNL LTS (which is dimmed through the rheostat on the headlight switch for dash lights.

The box on the firewall that you picture is a relay, and it may or may not be one you need. If your horn is working, then that relay may be for something else such as anti-dieseling relay (which you probably don't need to worry about, it was only on some model years). See what remains not working on your truck before worrying about that relay.

I don't remember that plug shape, but you can figure it out based on the wire colors going into it and looking at the wiring diagram, probably. Here is a wiring diagram, it is not perfect because it tries to cover all model years and the wiring does vary a little from year to year.

The more perfect wiring diagram is in the year specific service manual, which can be found here or you may get a paper copy for reasonably cheap. It may be harder to read than the color diagram.

Everything seems to be working now. I'll plug that in to see if the horn starts to work.

I really appreciate your help!

Re: AC/fan switch

No problem. Be sure to unplug all that stuff before you sell the truck! ;-)

Yes!

Yes!
Nah I won't be selling this truck!

FYI, I inserted that plug in to that relay and the horn started going off! I checked under the horn on the wheel and it's not hooked up correctly, no wires.

Again, thank you very much for your help. It always feels good to fix things on our own (with the help of other sometimes) and also get to know our own vehicle instead of taking it somewhere to have someone diagnose and fix it while gouging you at the same time.
