Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
I'm running the 18" boss wheels on 72 style rotors. All I had to do was chamfer the edge of the rotor about a 1/4" and run a 3/16" spacer with longer studs. No mods to dust cap or center cap. A friend of mine is running the same setup with Chrome boss wheels and has no rubbing or any other issues.

over 500 posts making a bid deal about fitting issues, thats exactly what I did, spacer and and grinder. no machining. it soooo worth the price.

(on my 20x8.5's) No grinding or machining either. Just 1" wide rotors. That's the kicker. No news on the new design yet either. |

nope not running 1" rotor, I got a dropmember ( narrows width) so I can loose a little of that backspace with a spacer..

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
Here's my freshly painted 1971 2wd blazer rolling on 338's with a 1" rotor in the front... A big thanks goes out to Lolife99 for informing us on the 1" rotors!!!!
I purchased a set of belltech's 3" drop spindles for 1" rotors and it fits great. My sizes are 20x8.5 in front and 20x10 in rear.. I upgraded all the ball joints and tie rods to the 73-87 also with a ART front end bag kit and ART arms.. ( cool ride ) I ended up getting a rear coolride kit also... very nice stuff wirth the $$ IMO.. Here's a couple of Now and before tear down pics.. |

I think most of us would rather not run spacers, the front wheels seem to stick out enough in stock form.
I'm guessing you probably have the light duty rotors (one inch thick)? I do love the wheels though.

Wow!
That chassis is beautiful! Zammer did you have to cut the end of the spindle down? Or grind a radius on the edge of the front rotor hub to get the caps to clear? Do you have a build thread on your blazer? |

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
Hey thanks Lolife, I wasn't planning on going right down to the frame but... i'm pretty picky about stuff - a bit much sometimes, but i'm glad i ended up there as it turned out good and its nice bolting on stuff to a fresh frame
.. No, i didn't have to cut the end of the spindle down at all.. are some guys needing to do this? I don't have a build thread but i was thinking of getting one going, I finally figured out how to post pics properly.. |

I think the guys with 1.25" specific spindles are required to do this. Did you grind on the rotor hub at all? |

nope, i haven't had to grind the rotor hub at all yet... I would doubt i need to at all..
Bearings and dust caps went on good and the wheel bolted onto the rotor fine.. |

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
Been looking for wheels and found this thread today, I guess I need to take the
Coy's off so I can see if the McGaughy's 13" brake floating hub will be an issue? I really want to put the Coy's back on the 81 and get these for the 72 so I am in for a group deal hands down. Zammer do the 10's fit well on the Blazer rear?

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
yeah the 338's seem to fit good in the back on the blazer.. I haven't had the body back on yet to see if i need to put spacers in or not.. I have to do some rear fender work anyways so i was going to widen them if needed..
I will measure the rear tires end to end for you when i get home from work tonight.. then maybe you can compare track widths.. your blazer chassis looks great! looks like near the same gloss as mine. sweet. kris |

The only problem I see with the 20x10's is they only come in 6.25" backspace. I don't know what BS you're running on those 22x9 Coys,... but I'm pretty sure you will need a spacer to put these Boss 338 20x10's on the rear of your blazer. Last edited by lolife99; 01-27-2010 at 12:50 PM. |

I wonder why they don't offer a 5" BS. Seems like that would be the most common...

I'm not really sure what Boss was thinking. Seems like they design a wheel and only offer one backspace per design. Last edited by lolife99; 01-27-2010 at 03:28 PM. |
