Re: Radiator Shroud
If I was putting an electric fan in the shroud, I would put it at the rear edge fo the shroud for optimum performance.

Re: Radiator Shroud
The v6 and I6 motor stands sit in the rear mount holes, while the v8 stands sit in the front set of holes. My small block is in the 6 cyl mount location. This is because when I swapped out the 351 V6 I didn't want to move the transmission, lengthen the driveshaft, etc. I suspect that the others prob swapped out I6's since they are more common. To solve my fan distance issue I am in the process of mounting up a 16" e fan/shroud combo out of summit with a thermostat.

Re: Radiator Shroud
ok, I used shorted brackets which brought it back a bit. The brackets hold it very securely, however when I put 3/8" of sponge-rubber weatherstrip around the outside edge, I thought I was going to need a huge press to get it in! Finally with a bit of clamping I got it to set perfectly. It would be a struggle to get it out... so hopefully this will keep temps correct. Shouldn't be to bad if I need to go back to the original, best of all - NO HOLES IN MY SHROUD!!
I fired it up she's definitely a sucker! Hard to tell how loud it will be in the truck, a little loud now but it's very quiet around here. Any idea what the cfm rating on this fan is?

Re: Radiator Shroud
80 amps!? I've heard 30 and 20 but 80 seems a bit much. I've only researched the relays briefly, but will be getting something. I need to look into hooking it up to my trinary switch as well.
what's the rating on your relay?

Re: Radiator Shroud
You may be right, just thought I read that somewhere. Anyway, I searched Tyco site for part number-VF4-1511-Z01 but couldn't find an exact match. This is the relay M&H supplied with my harness for the electric fan application

Re: Radiator Shroud
are you using a radiator probe or a sensor in your head?

Re: Radiator Shroud
I have the factory senser in the intake manifold, but you could weld in a 1/2" NPT bong in the radiator. Didn't like shoving the probe into the fins of the rad

Re: Radiator Shroud
Mine was a stock fan set up, sorry but can't help you with the electric fan set up, but looking at it, I think they put them in a bit because that is the stronger part of the shroud

Re: Radiator Shroud
Sorry, been off the site for a few days. I have a stock fan, no clutch on my setup as asked previously. I have not gone the electric fan route. I know more folks than not use them but just my preference. The stands I used, all I did was take them off the 6 cyl. and put them on the 8. They bolted right up to the motor. Im running the old points style distributor and yes it is tight but manageable. Hope this answers any questions about my setup..

Sorry Steve,
Didn't mean to attempt a hostile take-over of the thread!
