The OP is going for a Cammed 5.3, A 4L60E will feel Better/Faster at Part Throttle where MOST driving is done. Especially if the cam is too big (Easy to over-cam a 4.8L/5.3L)

I only asked because I dont currently have a transmission for this build. I`m getting a 5.3 core long block from a friend for free. I`m not planning to reuse my 1985 700R4 as its currently on it`s way out anyway.

The cam I`m planning to run is 218/226@.050 .595/.580 113LSA from Tick Performance. He recommended a 2800-3000 stall with 3.73 rear gears. Like i said, I dont care which one I use but I happened to find a 4L80E core for $150. 4L60E cores are going for much more than that in my area.
